The Personal Importance of the UI and Sound
While not everyone is friendly towards the idea of computers providing auditory feedback when an events such as warning or errors occur, some, such as myself, enjoy having that feature. Similarly to how music can tell stories and reveal much more about the composer than one would think, I believe the sounds within and operating system or desktop environment are part of the personality or the voice of the system and work to reveal the overall image of it along with the UX and UI. Music, and thus thematic sounds, are very important to me, and I for one love having overly-dramatic error sounds and joyous email notification chimes.
